How To Integrate Facebook Shopify Ads And Connect New Meta Sales Channels

Have a Shopify account and looking to start Facebook advertising as well as open new revenue channels for growth.


Shopify and Facebook have two main integrations that will enable small business owners to easily set up and scale their ad spend and organic sales with Facebook.

  • The Facebook channel by Shopify, this feature allows you to integrate the different Facebook platforms with Shopify

  • Shopify audiences for Shopify Plus members. This allows you to create target audiences on Facebook based on Shopify data.

Seamlessly Connect Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger With Shopify's Facebook Sales Channel


Shopify has several "sales channels" that you can set up to make marketing with your Shopify store easier.


To find the Facebook sales channel use the search bar at the top of the page.

Search for the Facebook sales channel in the top nav bar of you Shopify store.

The Facebook sales channel offers 5 unique features that let you connect your Shopify account with your Meta products.

  • Facebook integration, allows you to sell your catalogue of products on your Facebook business page.

  • Instagram integration, allows you to sell your catalogue of products through your Instagram business account.

  • Connect your direct messages from Instagram to Shopify.

  • Connect your Messenger account with Shopify.

  • Connect your catalogue to Facebook ads to create dynamic ads on Facebook.

Helpful Tips On Connecting Your Facebook Sales channel

Connect your Shopify store and Facebook account.

There are three parts of this setup that you may find tricky if you are new to Facebook advertising.

First, you will need a Facebook business manager account.

If you don't have one yet you can set that up here.


Second, you will need to set up data sharing.


You have three options standard, enhanced and maximum.

Standard - This is your basic tracking using the Meta pixel. This can be blocked by ad blockers or changes in tracking policy.


Enhanced - Uses Facebook's conversion API and the Meta pixel. This cannot be blocked by ad blockers and can get around changes in tracking policy.


Maximum - This is the same as Enhanced, with the added bonus that the latest updates to the Meta pixel are included.

The last tricky piece is the commerce manager. The commerce manager can be found within your Facebook business manager so if you have already set that up you can set this up as well.

The commerce manager is where you will see sales from your Facebook shop show up.


Sell Your Products With Your Facebook Business Page

Sell your Shopify products on the Facebook Shop.

From within the Facebook sales channel start setting up your Facebook Shop.


The benefit of this Shopify integration is that all these purchases will go directly to Shopify so that it can manage orders, products, and customers.

Once connected your catalogue will shop up when Facebook users click, "View Shop".

Once completed Facebook users will be able to view shop on your business's Facebook page.


Sell Your Products With Your Instagram Business Account

Sell your Shopify catalogue on your Instagram shop.

Once you've connected your Instagram account and have connected your catalogue you will be able to manage your catalogue directly from the commerce manager.


From the commerce manager, you can view the sales from your Instagram account, create collections or change the layout of the home page of your Instagram Shop.

Once connect you can manage your Instagram store via the commerce manager.

Connect Your Instagram Direct Messages To Shopify

Manage your Instagram direct message from within the Shopify inbox.

This feature allows you to use Shopify's inbox to respond to your Instagram direct messages.

Ensure that you have your Facebook business manager account set up before setting this up as you will need it to complete this integration.


Connect Your Messenger account To Shopify

Manage conversation and sell your products within the messenger app with the Facebook and Shopify integration.

Once connected customers will be able to talk with you in real-time from the messenger app.

Potential customers can "Show now".

By selecting "Shop now" they can view your entire product catalogue.

Potential customers can sort through your collections.

Once your potential customer finds a collection they like they can browse the products in the collection.

Once potential customers find a collection they like they can view products inside it.

Read descriptions.

Potential customers can use the messenger integration to read description and purchase with Shopify checkouts.

Then when they are ready, they can checkout with Shopify checkout.


Integrate Shopify Catalogue To Create Ads From Facebook

Connect you Facebook and Shopify account to run Dynamic ads on Facebook.

Once you've set up this feature you can create dynamic ads within the ad manager.


The Facebook ads manager is where you can create your Facebook ad campaigns.

Once connected Shopify will direct you to the ads manager to create your Facebook ads.

Expand Your Target Audience With Shopify Audiences

Shopify Audiences is a shopify plus feature for expanding your top of funnel targeting.

Shopify audiences is a Shopify plus feature that enables plus members to expand their top-of-funnel targeting with Facebook ads.

Shopify audiences use machine learning to find users who are like your seed audience.

Shopify audiences uses machine learning to create an audience of buyers based on similar Shopify visitors.

For example, I can choose a seed audience that is composed of one of my best-selling products.


Shopify will then create their version of a lookalike audience. This audience is based on potential customers who shop for similar products at similar Shopify stores.


Once you create your Facebook audience it will be added to the audience section of your business manager to be used in your next ad campaign.
